Meet our new CEO- Tavante Calhoun
Tavante Calhoun Sr. has been named Chief Executive officer for The Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County. He has a track record of supporting the local club as a parent and volunteer. His passion for assisting youth guided him in his desire to lead the club into the next era. He has shown a volunteer spirit throughout the community by supporting the city of Pine Bluff and local nonprofits that serve the youth of Jefferson County. His previous experience in retail, mental health, and as a minister gives him a vast skill set in service and serving others. Previously, Mr. Calhoun was a Social Worker for the Pine Bluff School District serving as an advocate for scholars and staff. For the scholars, the goal was to help them gain a quality education even while facing the many challenges of life to become positive and productive citizens. Mr. Calhoun supported staff in the many challenges that may prevent them from providing a high quality education to their students. In his time with the district as a social worker he was also tasked with developing parental support as well as assisting on the district wide wellness team. His efforts and passion for assisting youth led him in his effort to make the school a safe place for education in every way. Mr. Calhoun received his higher education at Southeast Arkansas College and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He also possesses a Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lakes University in San Antonio TX. He is the husband of Lozanne Calhoun (current member of the limited authority Board for the Pine Bluff School District). He is the father of four including Accee Milton, Alexia Milton,Taylor Calhoun, and Tavante Calhoun Jr. He is a member of the Rose Hill MBC where he also serves as an associate minister. He is on several boards including Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus, SEARK Foundation Board, and GFPB Board. Mr. Calhoun is a graduate of Leadership Pine Bluff through the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce which has prepared Mr. Calhoun with a better understanding of the community and its industry which supports his ability to network and gain greater support for the Boys and Girls of Jefferson County. Tavante Calhoun lives to serve and is grateful for the opportunity to lead such an historic and impactful organization
